Michigan Alliance for Performing Arts Announces First MAPA+ Event for the 2026 Season

Saturday, August 30th, 2025 — The Michigan Alliance for Performing Arts (MAPA) is proud to introduce MAPA+ Events, a new format designed to elevate the competitive experience for percussion and winds ensembles. This year’s MAPA+ event will be held on Saturday, March 28 at Grand Blanc High School.

MAPA+ at Grand Blanc will replace the previously scheduled back-to-back weekend events with a new Prelims and Finals format, giving ensembles the rare opportunity to perform twice in one day. After prelims, groups will receive valuable feedback from an expert adjudication panel before returning to the floor for finals. The two-show structure is designed to give performers and educators deeper insights into their productions, while creating a more exciting and educational competitive experience.

“This new MAPA+ event is inspired by the recent launch of WGI’s Regional+ format,” said Chris Vilag, Board President for MAPA. “We’re excited to bring a similar experience to our circuit, giving our members more performance opportunities, more feedback, and more ways to grow before Championships.”
